This is being sold by Mark Norstad, owner of Paragon Machine Works. We've been building bike components for 35 years, and I'm now selling some of my personal bikes acquired over this time.

I designed this bike in 1992, and started bugging Gary Helfrich, one of the original partners at Merlin, about building it. A year later, I finally got him to commit. I made the dropouts and did the machine work, Gary's job was to do the welding. We spent a Saturday mitering and welding, and got the frame done. Since it was Saturday, we celebrated our good work with some refreshing beverages. On Sunday morning, it was clear that Gary may have enjoyed a few too many beverages, and was in no mood to weld. Fortunately, Wes Williams (before he started Willits Brand Bikes) stopped by, and took over welding the fork. I was able to go home with a finished frame and fork.

The original concept was a bike to ride Critical Mass. For over two years, I didn't miss a CM on this bike. Originally a single-speed, I added gears a couple of years ago. Restoring it to a single-speed would be simple, if the buyer wants to. Shimano 18t freewheel included. This is the first of three Paragon Machine Works branded bikes that I'm selling. Stay tuned for more.

This is a fun bike, in great shape, ready to ride as-is. It is a unique, one-of-a-kind custom.
